Sexology 101 - Andropause (What the heck is this?)

Andropause is also known as the "mid-life" crisis in men. As for women it's called menopause and there is plenty of information on the internet about menopause.

Males between the age of 45-55 go through this stage of "I'm over the hill" "I'm losing it" "I can't hack it anymore." and retaliate by buying expensive cars, screwing a young Blondie, or dying their hair . . . at least that's how I see it.

But what actually happens? Is it mental or biological?

The truth is, it's actually biological. Men between the age of 45-55 will begin to make less and less of Androgen, a male hormone. This is can determined by simple blood test.

Also, not every guy goes through this, the actual percentage is in the ballpark of 30%-40% of males.
This as an effect on men's relationships with their partners. They don't understand their bodies and don't understand their emotions, thus neither do their partners. This leads to frustrations and encourages the male to go out and seek his own contentment whatever it may be.

Some suggestions are:
Share your experiences with your family and close friends.

Talk to your doctor, ask for a simple blood test called a bioavailable testosterone level. If indicated, start on testosterone replacement therapy. This could be a body cream, gel, patch, pill or injection.

Exercise regularly, foot to ground exercise such as walking, running.

Reduce alcohol intake and stop smoking.Eat healthy, reduce fats and sugars.

If overweight, lose weight gradually through diet and exercise.

Reduce your stress levels.
So, old lads! Don't you worry, it's normal. . . Just talk with a doctor before you buy an expensive sports car or try to pick up a young Blondie!
