A few days ago I was doing research for a class project and came across the most interesting article and I think it's suitable for my weekly blogs. The article talks about a research project conducted by two college professors who were curious to see which factor made people more happy - sex or money. Naturally, at least for me, sex came out on top.
The article stated, “Increasing intercourse from once a month to once a week is equivalent to the amount of happiness generated by getting an additional $50,000 in income for the average American.” (Kirchheimer, WebMD Medical News) Do you think this could be true? Extra action between the sheets feels like getting an extra $50,000 dollars a year? The article also pointed out, “In fact, the economists calculate that a lasting marriage equates to happiness generated by getting an extra $100,000 each year. Divorce, meanwhile, translates to a happiness depletion of $66,000 annually.” (Kirchheimer, WebMD Medical News) Furthermore, the article confirms that those who are depressed often have less sex.
What do you think? In my opinion, sex is a form of intimacy and intimacy is a necessity to being happy, and intimacy can’t be bought. So yeah, I think the article is right; sex does produce more happiness than money ever could.
So according to the article and research findings, sex does play a big role in our happiness, more than money. So for those of you who run into financial difficulty from time to time, don’t worry, just make a racket in the bedroom and at least it’ll feel like you’ve made an extra $50,000!
